Chetak Electric has proved to be a huge success for Bajaj.
If one glances at the official Bajaj Chetak reviews in leading two-wheeler portals, it would be evident!
So what makes Chetak Electric so desirable?
Well, there are many aspects that work in favour of the e-scooter. Some of them are mentioned in the sections below.
The design language set for the e-scooter can be categorised as neo-retro.
To put things into perspective, smooth lines run all over the body of the e-scooter. Similar to the original Chetak, the Chetak Electric has all metal body panels. The frame of the e-scooter is made of high-tensile steel. Bajaj also equipped the e-scooter with precisely machined 12-inch alloy wheels.
The front wheel is paired with a leading-link suspension. The rear wheel is paired with a single monoshock suspension.
The top speed of the e-scooter is electronically limited to 70 KMPH. The motor on the e-scooter has a continuous output of 3800 W. The peak power output of the motor is 4,080 W. The peak torque the motor can produce is 16Nm.
The e-scooter is equipped with a front disc braking unit. The rear wheel is paired with a drum braking unit. In terms of passive safety, the e-scooter is equipped with regenerative brakes as a standard feature. Furthermore, Combined Braking System is also a standard feature. To make nighttime rides convenient, all switches on the e-scooter are backlit.

As per the official Bajaj Chetak price list, the average ex-showroom MSRP of the e-scooter is Rs. 153,298* (the price may be different based on location). All leading lenders offer attractive two-wheeler loan schemes specially designed for this e-scooter. Hence getting Chetak Electric financed won’t be a problem.
The battery pack onboard the e-scooter is a 3kWh lithium-ion pack that has an IP67 rating.
Bajaj has programmed the e-scooter to offer its riders two ride modes. One has access to the Eco Mode which offers a range of 95 KMs per charge. The Sports Mode, however, reduces the range of the EV to 85 KMs*/charge.
Bajaj has equipped the e-scooter with a built-in charger and has hidden the unit beneath the seat. The charging cable can be located in the front storage compartment of the e-scooter. One can plug in the charging cable to any 5 - ampere power outlet. One can charge the battery pack of the e-scooter to 100% in just 5 hours!
The battery pack would need to be replaced after the vehicle has covered 70, 000 KMS. The long operational life of the battery pack is due to an efficient IBMS or Intelligent Battery Management System. The IBMS onboard the Chetak is developed in-house by Bajaj Auto engineers. The role of the IBMS is to efficiently and safely control the charge and discharge cycles of the battery pack. Hence, the e-scooter is free from heating issues and fire risks that other EV-two-wheeler manufacturers struggle with.
The Bajaj Chetak riding experience is second to none, especially when compared to IC engine-powered scooters available in India. The rider would sit upright. The seats are contoured, spacious and well-padded. The suspensions come with a medium setting. The e-scooter is very stable in straight lines as well as in corners. Quick overtakes don’t demand any pre-planning from the rider’s end. The power delivery from the motor is contained but adequate. Unlike other e-scooters, one would not feel scared to twist the throttle!
